WEEK #2 (August 21st-25th)
Monday: We started off the week turning in our homework, completing our first vocabulary quiz, then we began our first of four deep dives into the ancient river civilizations PowerPoint
Tuesday: We looked deeper at the empires and the history of Mesopotamia
Wednesday: We continued presenting about the cultures of the Fertile Crescent, and introduced our first project.

Thursday: We worked on our projects, using our class time wisely to complete as much as possible in our time together
Friday: We presented our projects, listening respectfully and earning points for relevant questions of other groups.

Week 2 Vocabulary
- Monotheism - is a religion centered around the belief in a single all-powerful god
- Polytheism - the doctrine of or belief in more than one god or in many gods
- Chalcolithic – the (Copper Stone) age the age in which humans began to smelt metal
- Epic of Gilgamesh - an epic poem from ancient Mesopotamia that is often regarded as the earliest surviving great work of literature
- Harrapan Civilization – A bronze age civilization that takes its name from a modern village in the Indus Valley
- Fertile Crescent - region in the Middle East which curves, like a quarter-moon shape, from the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean
- Babylon - a key kingdom in ancient Mesopotamia, known for its hanging gardens
- Yellow River- Huang He is the "mother river of China". Its basin was the center of Chinese politics, economy, and culture for over 2,000 years.
- Hatshepsut - the first female ruler of ancient Egypt to reign as a male with the full authority of pharaoh
- Arayan – Nomadic Herders who brought the Caste System to ancient India
