Project #3 an Immigrant Nation Thanksgiving
With Thanksgiving break fast approaching we will be
completing a project that relates to that Holiday. We discussed
in Unit 1 about the origins of Thanksgiving, as we just finished
our section on the waves of immigration in the mid-19 th century
I would like us to update the concept.
For this project you will need to identify a food that for you
most relates to being an American, this doesn’t mean you need
to bring in a pack of Kraft singles and some Wonderbread,
rather the food can be something your family relates to it’s own
history no matter it’s origin. The United States was founded
around the idea that from many origins we become one.
Whether you like German bratwurst, French croissants, Italian
ravioli or Middle Eastern hummus your food is a part of the
American story.
You will then need to research a history of that food.
As a result of your research you will need to print out a recipe
and a one page report on where that food comes from, what
the ingredients are, where those ingredient originated and why
it is an important part of history
